Dr. Derwood Perkins has a rich heritage in the Church of God with both grandfathers being ministers. Born and raised in Lexington, KY, he attended the University of Kentucky for two years majoring in Civil Engineering. He is a graduate of Lee University (Cleveland, TN) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion, a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry/Counseling from the Church of God Pentecostal Theological Seminary (Cleveland, TN), and a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Piedmont International University (Winston-Salem, NC).
In August 2018 Dr. Perkins was appointed as Administrative Bishop of Louisiana after previously serving as Administrative Bishop of the Midlands Region from 2014-2018. Dr. Perkins comes with over thirty-six years of ministry in the local church as a Youth Pastor and Lead Pastor in Mississippi, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Alabama.
Dr. Perkins has served on many Church of God state and international boards and committees. He currently serves as a member of the Church of God Global Board of Education and Adjunct professor at Lee University. Dr. Perkins is also the President of Centers of Hope International.
The Perkins have two married daughters that serve in ministry. Lauren (Danny) Henderson are replanting the City Hills Church of God in San Diego, CA. Kayla (Robbie) Beck is the Children’s Pastor at Cornerstone Church in Athens, GA. They have been blessed with three wonderful grandchildren: Brooklyn Henderson, Audrey Henderson, and Andy Beck.
Louisiana Women’s Discipleship Director: Jean Perkins

Jean is excited to be back “home” after serving in pastoral ministry in this great state over seventeen years ago. She was born and raised in a small, rural town in South Carolina and is a graduate of Lee University in Tennessee where she met the love of her life and ministry partner. Their thirty-six year journey has taken them in youth and pastoral ministry through Mississippi, South Carolina, Louisiana and Alabama. Appointed to Administrative ministry in 2014, Jean served as the Administrative Assistant and Women’s Discipleship Director of the Midlands Region (Iowa/Nebraska). At the 2018 International General Assembly of the Church of God they were appointed to Louisiana. Jean has served in various roles in the local church including Children, Music, Youth, Women’s Ministry and Office Administrator. In addition, she has served on the State Women’s Board for Alabama and Louisiana.
Jean loves her family, nature, traveling and photography. The Perkins have two married daughters that serve in ministry. Youth & Discipleship Director: Chuck Ferrell

Bishop Chuck Ferrell was born and raised in Northern California, attending the Church of God since the age of two. Chuck started his college education in Northern California as an Accounting major before entering ministry. He is a graduate from Lee University (Cleveland, TN) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Theology and a Master of Arts degree in Discipleship & Church Formation from the Church of God Pentecostal Theological Seminary (Cleveland, TN).
With nearly 30 years of credentialed ministry, most of which has been in pastoral ministry, Chuck has served in various roles, from Youth Pastor, Church Treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent to Lead Pastor. He also amalgamated an independent church in Southeast Missouri into the Church of God. He has served on State Youth & Discipleship Boards and State Councils, as well as District Overseer in both Missouri and New Mexico. In May 2011, he served as the Site Coordinator for the Church of God and Operation Compassion during the recovery efforts from the Joplin, Missouri tornado. There he had the privilege of touching thousands of lives in the disaster relief efforts.
In August 2018, Chuck was appointed to serve as the Louisiana State Youth & Discipleship Director. Prior to coming to Louisiana, he had served in the New Mexico/El Paso region as the Youth & Discipleship Director from 2014-2018. Chuck possess a
strong desire to raise up and train the next generation and to pass on the rich heritage and legacy of Pentecostal movement. Chuck also serves as the Lead Pastor of the Life Church in Central, LA.
Chuck and his wife, Sherry, just celebrated their 30-year anniversary. They are the proud parents of three terrific children. Ryan, who is a graduate of Lee University and currently teaching High School Science in Dalton, GA. Their two daughters, Stephanie and Rachael are currently both students at Lee University. Stephanie is a Digital Media/Studio Production major and will graduate in July 2019. Rachael is a sophomore and a Business Administration major.
Girls Club Coordinator: Sherry Ferrell
Sherry grew up in rural Southeast Missouri. She met her soul mate from the efforts of Chuck’s praying grandmother who attended the same church as Sherry. Their 30 years journey has taken Sherry from southeast Missouri to northern California, back to Missouri, then to New Mexico and now in Louisiana.
Sherry has served in various roles in ministry. She has served as teacher, church treasurer, music ministry as well as Children’s Pastor and Ladies Ministry leader for the local church. As a pastor’s wife, she has unselfishly served in many other areas when and where needed. Her greatest passion is for children ministry. She loves the opportunity to pour into eager young lives with the love of Jesus Christ.
Sherry was appointed in 2018 as the State Girls Club Coordinator in Louisiana, where she previously served in same capacity in the New Mexico/El Paso region 2014-2018. Sherry also serves along side her husband as the pastors of Life Church Central.
Sherry deeply loves and cares for her family. She loves to craft and has a tremendous love of Christmas. She and Chuck are the proud parents of three wonderful children.
