Centers of Hope Mission International
The Centers of Hope is a Christian humanitarian mission to the people of Central America andAfrica, with projects in Nicaragua and Kenya. Founded by Donald & Sharon Gerkin (both deceased), the mission is twofold: training of indigenous leaders to minister to their culture, and through the ministry of U.S. mission teams that specialize in construction, medical care, humanitarian aid, and/or evangelism. Centers of Hope feeds over 4000 children per month in several cities in Nicaragua: Managua, Nuevo Amanecer, Piedra Quemadas, San Rafael del Sur, Matagalpa, Rivas, and El Salto. In addition to churches across Nicaragua and Africa, they operate an orphanage at Zion Worship Center in Mutomo, Kenya. Bishop Dr. Derwood Perkins serves as President of Centers of Hope.
